How to Jumpstart Detox and Body Cleansing
Consume 2-3 tall glasses a day of kombucha for 1 to 2 weeks. We recommend kombucha fermented based in green tea like any flavor of The Joes Kombucha.
Now, we’ll wait for your body to react. Some reaction can be as little as within the day, some can be as late as three days. It depends on your body conditions, including your past conditions, illnesses and diseases.
Your body has its own natural healing crises. It has built-in desire to be in good health conditions to be able to function properly and to do its own work. Sometimes in the past, you may have diseases unknowingly resulted when your body did not make it through the ‘natural’ healing crisis for one or more reasons.
During Kombucha Detox process – What to Expect?
Before diving in to kombucha detox process, it is common to ask questions. After all, introducing new nutrition, probiotic and cleansing is sure to bring benefits as well as the side effects.
The good news is most kombucha brewers and drinkers, including us here in The Joes, say that we only had experienced temporary “little” adverse effects. The benefits are far too great to mind the little discomfort and quit from drinking kombucha – and even after reading many ‘misguided claims on kombucha side effects’.
Again, kombucha is probiotic-rich drink, fermented in tea. It is not new. The exact origin is unclear; however, its origin can be traced back for more than thousand years. It has been known with many names same goes with its long list of health benefits. The name kombucha only existed during the mid-20th century.
Healing Crisis Defined
This article, healing crisis was defined as natural part of body cleansing:
A healing crisis is when symptoms from diseases and toxins that are released during a detoxification process manifest themselves. Also known as “Herxheimer Reaction”, a healing crisis occurs when toxins stored in the body are released at a faster rate than can be properly eliminated. The more toxic one’s body is, the more severe the detoxification and the more intense the reaction.
A healing crisis is characterized by a temporary increase in symptoms during a cleansing or detoxification process. Such symptoms may be mild or severe, depending on the body’s original toxicity, but are definitely temporary. They can occur immediately, within several days, or even several weeks of a cleansing program.
Symptoms Experienced While Detoxing
Rest assured experiencing detox symptoms is a good sign. Though it can be scary at first, this is a good sign that your body is going through elimination process. The Kombucha is working hard to rid of impurities, toxins, parasites and any imbalances and to heal itself from the inside out. Similar to having a fever – indicates that our body is fighting infection.
Expect ups and downs. You’ll achieve your good health back. During the healing crisis, all our body system work together to regenerate – expel the old ones and replaced with new. Thus, you will experience any of the following list of symptoms. Symptoms vary from one person to another – how normal or bad your health is now or how often you detox in your life.
- gas and bloating
- unusual fatigue
- mood swings
- skin irritation
- muscle cramps
- arthritic flair ups
- ear infections
- or any other way the body uses to loosen and eliminate toxins
These reactions are not exclusive to Kombucha. They are similar to other cleansing and detox treatments. Pushing through the discomforts detox time can mean a healthier you in the end. If this is your first time to undergo detox treatment in your life, it is important that the cleansing program to be continued. Each time you detox the less severity of symptoms you will experience.
Managing Healing Crisis
During the initial healing crisis which commonly observed lasted three days to one week, you will need to drink plenty of water and juices and eat foods high in fiber. This will help rid of toxins and diseases.
Listen to your body and what it wants. If you feel sleepy, then it’s time to rest. Work with your body, not against it – your body has an inborn desire for perfect health.
Suggested Diet (Optimize Your Detoxification System)
Eating more plants or vegetables — and no meat, poultry, processed foods and dairies (if possible or in moderation) — during the healing crisis could definitely benefit your body system to focus more on eliminating what is already there inside your body.
There’s no denying that the foods we eat are the fuel of our body to function. The food is giving instruction to our body of what to do. If the food you are eating contains good nutrition – your body will function good.
What about the processed food?
The Self Nutrition Data describes how processing foods affect nutrition:
Nearly every food preparation process reduces the amount of nutrients in food. In particular, processes that expose foods to high levels of heat, light, and/or oxygen cause the greatest nutrient loss. Nutrients can also be “washed out” of foods by fluids that are introduced during a cooking process. For example, boiling a potato can cause much of the potato’s B and C vitamins to migrate to the boiling water. You’ll still benefit from those nutrients if you consume the liquid (i.e. if the potato and water are being turned into potato soup), but not if you throw away the liquid. Similar losses also occur when you broil, roast, or fry in oil, and then drain off the drippings.
So, most of the natural nutritients are removed in the refining process, thus, we need to get them elsewhere.
We, at The Joes Kombucha, continue our drinking kombucha as part of our lifestyle for one reason – we want to keep that great feeling when our mind, body and physical are healthily balanced.
The first detox experience may be challenging but silent diseases our body accumulated from the past is even more alarming. We may not understand completely every single thing on how our body system works nor every nutrition and vitamin interaction in our gut, but we do know by drinking kombucha can help us cleanse, eliminates the toxicants we encounter every day from air, food, water and modern technology that we use — and put our body in to balance.
We love to hear your kombucha experience!
Ordinary green or black tea has a very high level of polyphenols in it. Green tea has more of them than black tea. And it turns out that kombucha – the fermented version of those green or black teas – has even more polyphenols, and a wider variety of them, than the plain tea does.
